Joey Barton denies transfer request

Joey Barton has rubbished speculation that he has requested a move away from Queens Park Rangers.

The 29-year-old only joined Rangers in August 2011 from Newcastle United, but recent reports had claimed that he was unhappy in London.

"Whats this transfer request nonsense? I've never run from a challenge in my life, why would I start now. Absolute nonsensical," he wrote on Twitter.

Barton was red-carded during QPR's 2-1 loss to Norwich City yesterday afternoon.
