Ray Wilkins backs Les Ferdinand at Queens Park Rangers

Wilkins backs Ferdinand at QPR

Ray Wilkins has backed Les Ferdinand to succeed as caretaker manager at Queens Park Rangers.

Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey were placed in temporary charge on Tuesday following Harry Redknapp's resignation.

Redknapp stepped down from his role at Loftus Road claiming that he took the decision because of upcoming knee surgery.

Following his experience behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur and QPR, Wilkins believes that Ferdinand will help to steady the Premier League strugglers.

"Les is a QPR legend. There's an abundance of quality, but they've obviously chosen Les. He's a wonderful figurehead for club, and I'm sure in the background he's been working extremely hard. I wish him the best of luck," he told Sky Sports News.

"Les has had a massive experience at Tottenham, he's a great guy and I'm sure he knows his stuff. And Chris also is a very, very good football man - I've no qualms with it whatsoever."

QPR are currently in 19th place in the Premier League table, one point adrift of safety.
