Mark Hughes is given the brief to take new club Queens Park Rangers to the Europa League.

Mark Hughes has reportedly been given the brief to take new club Queens Park Rangers to the Europa League.

The Welshman was named manager of the West London club yesterday, following Neil Warnock's dismissal.

The 48-year-old's immediate challenge is to keep QPR in the Premier League, but Hoops owner Tony Fernandes has expressed his wish to see the club in the European competition, according to The Sun.

Hughes took previous clubs Blackburn and Fulham to Europe.

QPR are currently 17th in the Premier League, one point off the relegation zone.
