Mark Hughes questions the decision-making of his players following Djibril Cisse's 'poor' red card during QPR's 3-1 defeat to Sunderland.

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has refused to defend Djibril Cisse following the striker's red card during the Hoops' 3-1 defeat to Sunderland this afternoon.

With the score at 1-0 to the Black Cats, Cisse was sent off for the second time in his short Rangers career for a two-footed challenge on Frazier Campbell.

"It was a poor challenge. You can't go into challenges like that. It was a poor decision by Djibril - not from the referee," said Hughes.

Cisse's sending-off led the Welshman to criticise the discipline of his players and with difficult games to come, Hughes has urged them to improve their decision-making in upcoming matches.

"We've got enough talent to stay up but we have to make sure that in key moments we make the right decision. Too many times against Sunderland we didn't do that," he said.

"We're certainly going to have to put a shift in because we've got Arsenal and Manchester United coming up."

Cisse is now likely to be suspended for those matches, as well as fixtures against Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion.
