Shaun Derry: 'Diving is part of the game'

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Shaun Derry has claimed that diving is now a recognised part of modern day football.

The 34-year-old saw red for a foul on Manchester United winger Ashley Young earlier this month, for which the England man was accused of going to ground too easily.

"It is very much in fashion. It happens, it is part of the game. Footballers try to gain an advantage for their team and that's part of the game unfortunately. It's not nice to watch at times," Derry told The Sun.

QPR suffered a 6-1 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
