Fer out for eight weeks with knee injury

Queens Park Rangers and Netherlands international midfielder Leroy Fer is out for eight to 10 weeks after suffering a knee ligament injury.

He picked up the injury during QPR's 2-0 win at Sunderland on Tuesday night, their first away win of the season.

Fer had scored the opening goal at the Stadium of Light, but was stretchered off in the 75th minute.

QPR described the injury as a "medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee" on Twitter.
