The Football League has confirmed that Portsmouth's 10-point deduction for exiting administration will be activated this season.
The League One club officially came out of administration on Friday night after the Pompey Supporters' Trust's successful takeover.
Having already been relegated, Portsmouth will now start next season in League Two on zero points.
There had been concerns that their punishment would be carried over into the next campaign.
However, the Football League has imposed restrictions "on playing budgets, future borrowing and loan repayments for the next five seasons".
The points deduction will see Pompey move to the bottom of the League One table with two games left to play.
