Former Portsmouth, Bury and Cameroon midfielder Valery Mezague is found dead in his apartment by police at the age of 30.

Former Portsmouth and Cameroon midfielder Valery Mezague has been found dead in his apartment at the age of 30.

The Marseille-born player spent a year at Pompey on loan from Montpellier HSC, but left the club to join former Fratton Park boss Alain Perrin at Sochaux.

His death was confirmed by current club Sporting Toulon Var, a team in the fifth tier of French football, who tweeted: "It is with great sadness that Sporting Toulon informs you of the death of Valery Mezague."


Mezague also played seven times for League Two outfit Bury during his career.
