FL delay Pompey points deduction

The Football League have decided to delay Portsmouth's 10-point deduction until after they exit administration.

Pompey were due to start the season on minus 10 points after their severe financial problems caused them to go into administration last season.

However, the South Coast club have been granted special dispensation to postpone their punishment as the Football League try to aid their attempts to secure the club's future.

"The League will continue working with the administrator in an effort to secure the future of the club," the Football League said in a statement.

Portsmouth begin their League One campaign against Bournemouth at Fratton Park on Saturday, but currently only have three first-team players signed on.
