Half-Time Report: Matt Harrold brace holds Portsmouth

Harrold brace holds Pompey

Matt Harrold struck twice as Bristol Rovers twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 half-time draw with Portsmouth at Fratton Park today.

Adam Webster opened the scoring for the hosts and bagged his second goal in as many games in the 12th minute, firing beyond the reach of goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall from the edge of the box.

The lead proved relatively short-lived, though, as the visitors were back on level terms 10 minutes later through Harrold, whose deflected effort from outside the area squirmed past keeper Trevor Carson.

Buoyed by the equaliser, Rovers went in search of a second and nearly found one shortly after through David Clarkson, who capitalised on a defensive error from Pompey but Carson was alert to deny the 28-year-old.

Ryan Taylor then fired Andy Awford's men ahead on 39 minutes, before Harrold struck again to provide an immediate riposte moments later to deny the hosts a half-time lead.
