Plymouth Argyle will be aiming to record just their second League One victory of the season when they welcome Stockport County to Home Park on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts have struggled this term, only picking up three points from six matches to sit 21st in the League One table, while their visitors are eighth, collecting 11 points from their first six games of 2025-26.
Match preview
There is no getting away from the fact that it has been a tough start to the season for Plymouth, who were relegated from the Championship last season, finishing the campaign in 23rd spot in the second tier.
Tom Cleverley's side have struggled to get going in the early stages of 2025-26, winning one and losing five of their six matches in League One, which has left them in 21st spot in the table on three points.
Plymouth have only scored four times in the league this term, with their sole success coming against Blackpool on August 23, and they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Cardiff City last weekend.
That said, the Pilgrims will enter this match off the back of a win, beating Cheltenham Town 2-0 in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night, and it was a solid performance from the hosts.
Plymouth and Stockport have not actually locked horns for almost 22 years, with their last encounter in January 2024 ending in a 2-0 success for the former in Division Two.
Stockport, meanwhile, were involved in an eight-goal thriller with Wolves Under-21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night, winning 5-3 to make the perfect start to their campaign.
In League One, the Hatters have a record of three wins, two draws and one defeat from their six matches, with 11 points leaving them in eighth spot in the table.
Dave Challinor's side drew 1-1 with Wigan Athletic in the league last weekend, with Christian Saydee cancelling out a fourth-minute opener from Jayden Fevrier.
Stockport finished third in League One last season, making the playoffs, but they were beaten on penalties by Leyton Orient in the semi-finals, with the team therefore remaining in the third tier of English football.
The Hatters have not actually beaten Plymouth since April 2003, and they have only been victorious in one of their last six matches against Saturday's opponents.

Plymouth will be without the services of Brendan Galloway, who is on international duty with Zimbabwe, while Law McCabe is with the England Under-20s squad, so he will also not be involved.
Kornel Szucs has not been selected by Hungary, though, so he will be available for this contest, while no fresh injury problems have been reported ahead of the clash with Stockport.
Head coach Cleverley will make changes to the side that started against Cheltenham in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night, but there will be another spot at centre-forward for Lorent Tolaj, who netted a brace in the cup fixture.
As for Stockport, Lewis Fiorini (Scotland Under-21s), Benony Breki Andresson (Iceland Under-21s) and Andrew Wogan (Republic of Ireland Under-21s) are away on international duty.
However, Malik Mothersille has not been named in the Jamaica squad, so the 21-year-old is available, and he is again set to feature in the final third of the field.
Head coach Challinor will make changes to the side that started against Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s in the EFL Trophy, with Nathan Lowe expected to drop to the bench despite netting a brace in that contest.
Oliver Norwood has one goal and two assists in League One this season, and he is a certainty for the visitors.
Plymouth Argyle possible starting lineup:

Stockport County possible starting lineup:

We say: Plymouth Argyle 1-1 Stockport County
Plymouth are a lot better than they have shown this season, and we are backing the hosts to bounce back from their heavy defeat to Cardiff last time out with a point against Stockport.
