Peterborough United deny interest in Rotherham United boss Steve Evans

Posh deny Evans approach

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has insisted that Peterborough United will not approach Rotherham United boss Steve Evans over their vacant managerial post.

Evans has been strongly linked with the Posh job since Darren Ferguson parted company with the League One side over the weekend.

However, Evans is under contract with the Millers until the end of the 2016-17 season and MacAnthony does not want to pay any compensation.

"There's no way I'm paying a fee," MacAnthony told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"There's enough people out there to seek out without having to fork out compensation.

"Steve Evans is employed by a football club but if he wasn't, of course he'd be someone I speak to because of his record. But that goes for a lot of managers in that position."

Ferguson was removed following an indifferent run of form, with Posh 15th in the third tier.
