Uros Djurdjevic rescues point for Palermo

Uros Durdevic grabs a late equaliser as Palermo come from behind to hold Capri to a 2-2 draw in Scilly.

Uros Djurdjevic scored a late equaliser as Palermo earned a 2-2 draw in their Serie A meeting with Carpi this afternoon.

The hosts made a bright start to the match and they took the lead in the sixth minute when Oscar Hiljemark arrived in the box to touch in from Robin Quaison's delivery.

Carpi soon hit back and they equalised midway through the first half when Jerry Mbakogu burst to the byline and fired a low cross into the box that was turned into his own net by Roberto Vitiello.

Quaison then had a chance to restore the home side's lead, but his strike was turned to safety by Francesco Benussi.

As the game reached the hour mark Gaetano Letizia tried his luck from range for the visitors, but he could only guide his low effort wide of the target.

Marco Borriello was then brought on by the visitors and within two minutes of his arrival he found the net with a close-range finish after latching onto a through ball from Ryder Matos.

Palermo looked for a response and Franco Vazquez saw his effort saved by the keeper, before Mato Jajalo fired wide of the post.

The hosts kept pressing for an equaliser and with two minutes left to play they scored as Djurdjevic was picked out inside the box by Achraf Lazaar, before powering a header past Benussi and into the net.
