Palermo and Catania have shared the bragging rights in the Sicilian derby after the two sides drew 1-1 this afternoon.
The visitors almost made the perfect start when, after just 45 seconds, Marco Motta's diving header from Francesco Lodi's free kick flew just wide.
Emiliano Viviano then almost gifted Catania a goal when Alejandro Gomez's shot bounced off his chest, but the Palermo keeper was able to scramble back before the ball crossed the line.
The deadlock was broken after 25 minutes when Nicola Legrottaglie got on the end of a Pablo Barrientos flick-on to head the visitors ahead.
Palermo levelled the sides just two minutes into the second half when Nicolás Bertolo found Fabrizio Miccoli who made no mistake with his finish.
Neither side could find the all-important winner, leaving Palermo 15th, seven points clear of the relegation zone while Catania remain eighth, now just three points behind seventh-placed Roma.
