Newly-appointed Nottingham Forest manager Alex McLeish admits that he was excited as soon as he was approached by the club.

Alex McLeish has revealed his excitement following the confirmation that he has become the new Nottingham Forest manager.

The Scot, who was sacked by Aston Villa at the end of last season, admitted that he was excited to begin his new job ahead of Saturday's visit of Crystal Palace to the City Ground.

McLeish said: "The fact a club of Forest's magnitude has offered me a job excites me greatly.

"I've had time away from the game and now feel refreshed and ready to go.

"I can't wait to get started and I'm looking forward to meeting the players, talking to them and taking my first training session."

McLeish replaces Sean O'Driscoll, who was relieved of his duties on Wednesday evening.
