Newcastle target Sheffield teen Harry Maguire

Alan Pardew is reportedly lining up a bid for Sheffield United youngster Harry Maguire.

The Magpies boss has been monitoring the centre-back's progress this season and is considering a £3m offer.

Despite Newcastle's interest, Maguire signed a new four-year contract with the Blades two months ago.

Sheffield could be tempted by a full-price deal for the 18-year-old, however, as they are currently experiencing financial struggles in League One.

Newcastle are currently seventh in the Premier League with 30 points from 18 games.
