Report: Newcastle United monitoring Ghana defender Kasim Nuhu

Newcastle keen on Ghana defender Nuhu?

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Ghana international Kasim Nuhu.

The 22-year-old defender, who has been plying his trade with Swiss Super League side Young Boys, is believed to be valued at £8m.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are thought to be in the market for a back-up centre-half to provide competition and cover for Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, and Florian Lejeune.

With Chancel Mbemba said to be on the verge of leaving St James' Park, manager Rafael Benitez is hoping to bolster his side's backline ahead of another tilt at the top half of the Premier League table.

According to Football Ghana, Nuhu is understood to have told his representatives to hold talks with his club about a potential move this summer and Newcastle are believed to have already made an enquiry.

Tottenham Hotspur and Huddersfield Town have also reportedly thrown their names in the hat for the player, along with teams in Spain, Italy and France.
