Newcastle United 'fail with Aymen Abdennour bid'

Newcastle are reportedly told that Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour will not be joining them next season.

Newcastle United have reportedly failed with a recent bid for AS Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour.

Last month, the Tunisian international signed a new contract with the Ligue 1 club, despite apparent interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Get French Football News claims that Newcastle approached the player's representatives regarding a possible deal.

It is thought that their advances were quickly rebuffed as Abdennour would only leave Monaco for a team playing European football.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in a deal for the centre-back, while Spurs are believed to have been in regular contract with his agent.
