Alan Pardew rules out Yohan Cabaye return

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has admitted that he would like to re-sign Yohan Cabaye, but does not believe that the move will materialise.

The Paris Saint-Germain playmaker has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Parc de Princes since quitting the Magpies last January.

Speculation is rife that the 28-year-old will leave the club in the winter, but Pardew expects him to resolve his situation in the French capital.

"No, I don't think so," he is quoted as saying by the Sunderland Echo.

"I would like to have him back – [he is] a fantastic footballer – and it is a shame he is not playing, but I think they will resolve that."

Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in luring Cabaye - whose contract expires in 2017 - to their respective clubs in the upcoming transfer window.

He enjoyed a three-year spell at St James' Park following a switch from Lille in 2011.
