Newcastle United's Ryan Taylor flies to US to undergo surgery

Newcastle United's Ryan Taylor has jetted to the United States to undergo an operation on his knee.

The 28-year-old revealed last night that he will meet with renowned specialist Dr Richard Steadman in Denver, Colorado in order to repair his anterior cruciate ligament.

Taylor wrote on Twitter: "All ready for my long flight to Denver tomorrow. Loads asking am I going to see Dr Steadman? I sure am. I'm over to have my ACL repaired again. Then the recovery begins to get back."

Taylor suffered the injury twice over the course of the season.
