Rafael Benitez insists that he has had no contact with former club Napoli and is only talking to current club Newcastle United at present.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has claimed that he has had no contact with former club Napoli.

The 58-year-old remains in discussions over a contract extension at St James' Park. with only 12 months running on his current deal.

Benitez has been linked with the Partenopei, plus Premier League sides Everton and Leicester City, but the Spaniard is adamant that the Magpies are currently his only focus.

"I've heard so much talk [about my future], but I haven't spoken to [Napoli chairman] Aurelio de Laurentiis," Benitez told Calcio Napoli 24.

"I have a contract with Newcastle, I'm talking to them about my renewal. They made me some offers to stay here for a few more years, plus I have to manage my family.

"When I decided to go to Newcastle and stay there, even in the Championship, it was also because of my family. My priority is to stay in England. I'm only talking to Newcastle right now."

Benitez was in charge of Napoli between 2013 and 2015, winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana during his tenure.
