Ayoze Perez surprised by form at Newcastle United

Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez admits that he is surprised by how quickly he has adapted to life in the Premier League.

Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez has admitted that even he has been surprised by how quickly he has found form in the Premier League.

Perez, who was signed from Tenerife for less than £2m in the summer, has played a key role in Newcastle's recent resurgence, and the 21-year-old insists that he never doubted his ability to succeed in England.

"Things have changed for me quite a bit in recent weeks," Perez told reporters. "I am a bit surprised at how quickly I have adapted and how well things are going but I have never questioned whether I would be a success.

"Being confident is a really important part of being a football. I know my own ability and what I can achieve.

"On a personal level, I cannot ask for anything else right now. I am helping to contribute to the team's great form and I hope that continues throughout the season."

Newcastle return to action against West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
