Alan Pardew: 'Sammy Ameobi must deliver for Newcastle United'

Alan Pardew claims that the time has arrived for Sammy Ameobi to produce his best form for Newcastle United.

Alan Pardew has told Sammy Ameobi that it is time for him to produce his best form on a regular basis for Newcastle United.

Ameobi played a key role off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Swansea City last weekend, and Pardew has hinted that the 22-year-old will be given more chances to impress after the international break.

"He's been a young player in the shadow of his brother for a long time but did particularly well when he came on," the Magpies boss told reporters.

"Sammy's quick with fantastic technical ability who should be ripping this division up but he hasn't been.

"We've had the patience of a saint with him and he'll admit that but now we need to see him deliver."

Ameobi's brother, Shola, ended his 14-year Newcastle career in the summer.
