Report: Newcastle United to receive compensation for Tim Krul injury

Newcastle to receive compensation for Krul injury?

Newcastle United will bank a 'multi-million' pound compensation deal after Tim Krul was ruled out for the season, according to reports.

The goalkeeper sustained a knee injury during the Netherlands' 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan.

The Mirror claims that the Premier League strugglers will make a claim to FIFA's Club Protection Programme, which pays out a maximum of £5.5m for an injury.

The amount is calculated according to a player's salary and is awarded when a player is injured on international duty.

Newcastle previously won around £10m after Michael Owen was injured during the 2006 World Cup.
