New Inter Milan coach Walter Mazzarri reflects on a memorable three-and-a-half year spell as Napoli manager weeks after swapping Naples for the San Siro.

Former Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri has declared that his side achieved "extraordinary things" during his tenure and insisted that he will always be fond of his time at the club.

Mazzarri resigned as Napoli boss on the final day of the season, ending a three-and-a-half-year association with the Azzurri.

Edinson Cavani, Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi were among the players to star during Mazzarri's time in Naples, which saw the club win the Coppa Italia and reach the Champions League knockout stages.

The 51-year-old also led Napoli to their highest league finish since 1990 and believes that his side's attacking style will be remembered at the San Paolo by the club's fanatical support.

He told Radio Marte: "With Napoli in the last few years we have done really extraordinary things. The choices that I have taken have been hard. They are close to my heart.

"Since I decided to leave Napoli, I have taken my things home and emptied my locker. In life you have to look forward. I am a little excited at the moment so I prefer not to talk about the choice made for my future.

"Out of respect for Napoli, I will not say anything about who will sit in my place. I send a big salute to all of Napoli's fans for the love they gave me. I hope I have reciprocated the love they have shown me, they have given so much to this cause."

Just days after leaving Naples Mazzarri agreed a deal to replace Andrea Stramaccioni as coach of Inter Milan.
