Middlesbrough beat Yeovil Town for first home league win

Four goals ensure that Middlesbrough seal their first home league win of the season against Yeovil Town.

Middlesbrough came from behind to comfortably beat Yeovil Town and register their first home league win of the season in the Championship.

They were behind inside four minutes because of an error from captain Rhys Williams, which led to Liam Davis calmly beating keeper Luke Steele and the dream of a rare win looked possible.

However, the hosts were quickly level when Albert Adomah's corner found Grant Leadbitter, who volleyed the ball past Wayne Hennessey.

The turnaround was complete midway through the half when Dean Whitehead split the defence with his pass to find George Friend, who was brought down in the area and referee Dean Whitestone pointed to the spot.

Hennessey managed to tip Leadbitter's penalty onto the post, but Adomah was on hand to tuck in the rebound to put Boro in front.

From that point, the hosts controlled the game both in terms of possession and attacking threat.

They almost stretched their lead when Kei Kamara saw his shot came back off the bar and thumped the rebound against the post.

But Yeovil tried to stay in the game and thought that they had equalised just before half time when Paddy Madden put the ball in the net, only to see his effort ruled out for offside.

Jacob Butterfield put clear daylight between the sides minutes after the interval, beating Hennessey with a 25-yard drive.

Kamara rubbed salt into wound when he headed Muzzy Carayol's corner to add a fourth.

The result pulls Boro away from the relegation places for the time being, with Yeovil firmly in the drop zone having lost at home to Leicester City earlier in the week.
