Valbuena refuses to rule out Marseille exit

French international Mathieu Valbuena has refused to rule out a move away from Marseille this summer.

The 28-year-old has been the subjected of reported interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United after helping Les Phoceens finish second in Ligue 1 this season.

Valbuena, who signed a new contract in February, said that he 'trusts' the club's officials to build a competitive team in order for him to achieve his ambitions, but hinted that he would be open to a move should the opportunity arise.

"My contract has been automatically prolonged for one season due to Champions League qualification, but we will see what happens in the summer," Valbuena told L'Equipe.

"I know what I have at Marseille, and what I owe the club. I hope to play in an ambitious and competitive team, and I trust my officials to build that."

The diminutive midfielder arrived at the Stade Velodrome from Libourne-Saint-Seurin in 2006.
