Manchester United 'to delay Mason Greenwood contract offer'

United 'to delay Greenwood contract offer'

Manchester United are reportedly holding off on offering Mason Greenwood a new long-term deal.

Greenwood has been with United since the age of six, progressing through the various youth sides before making his first-team debut against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on March 6.

The 17-year-old also made three Premier League appearances during the 2018-19 campaign, including a start in the 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City on the final weekend of the season.

Greenwood currently earns around £50,000 a year, according to The Sun, but the club are 'in no rush' to hand the Englishman a new bumper contract.

The report has claimed that previous mistakes with the likes of Adnan Januzaj and Federico Macheda has led the 20-time English champions to take a more cautious approach, and a decision on a new deal for Greenwood will not be made until he turns 18 in October.

The teenager signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford in October 2018.
