Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag says that the club will exercise the 12-month extensions in the contracts of Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the club will exercise the 12-month extensions that exist in the contracts of Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw.

The first-team trio are, as it stands, out of contract next summer, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding their futures in recent weeks.

Paris Saint-Germain have already confirmed their interest in Rashford, and a recent report claimed that the French giants are prepared to pay him £850,000 a week to move to the club.

Dalot and Shaw, meanwhile, are both currently being linked with Barcelona, who remain in the market for full-backs.

However, Ten Hag has said that the 20-time English champions will soon activate the one-year extensions on their deals, which would take them until the summer of 2024.

All three players are likely to be offered new long-term deals, though, with the trio said to be in the plans of the Man United head coach moving forward.

"We are talking to them to extend contracts, but we have control because we have an option on all the players and we will exercise those options," Ten Hag told reporters.

Rashford and Dalot have both been key players for Man United since the start of the season, while Shaw has recently regained his spot in the side after being forced out by Tyrell Malacia.

The trio have been in action at the 2022 World Cup, with Rashford and Shaw playing in England's quarter-final loss to France, while Dalot featured in Portugal's last-eight exit to Morocco.

There are six more Man United players out of contract next year, including Fred and David de Gea.

There is the option for a further year in the two deals, meaning that both the player and the club would have to agree on the extension rather than it simply being activated by the Red Devils.

A recent report claimed that Man United are willing to let Fred leave on a free transfer, while De Gea's future at Old Trafford is also far from certain.

Alejandro Garnacho's deal is also up next year, but the teenager is expected to be offered a new long-term deal due to his performances this season.

The 18-year-old has scored twice for Man United this term, including the winner against Fulham in the Premier League before the campaign was halted for the World Cup.

Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones are both set to leave the club on free transfers, though, while Tom Heaton could also be released at the end of June.
