Schalke 04 'open to signing Sami Khedira'

Schalke 04 have revealed that they would be interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira at the end of the season.

The German international has been linked with an array of top European clubs, including Premier League Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, Schalke manager Roberto Di Matteo has suggested that the club would consider signing the Real star, if he is interested in moving to the Royal Blues.

He told reporters: "Khedira? We all know he's a great player.

"If he wants to join us, our doors are open to him. He's a world-class footballer."

Khedira joined Los Blancos from Stuttgart in 2010.
