'More than 20 clubs' want to sign James Wilson on loan

A report claims that Manchester United and England Under-21s striker James Wilson is wanted on loan by more than 20 clubs.

Manchester United have received enquiries from more than 20 clubs about taking striker James Wilson on loan after the Red Devils raised the prospect of allowing the youngster to leave on a temporary basis.

United indicated last week that they would be willing to let the 19-year-old leave Old Trafford after the £36m signing of Anthony Martial from Monaco.

The Daily Mail claims that Louis van Gaal was ready to let Wilson leave on loan with a view to a permanent move despite the sale of Javier Hernandez to Bayer Leverkusen, until club officials changed their minds on transfer deadline day.

With Derby County recently alleged to be keen on bringing in the striker on loan, the report also claims that more than 20 clubs have expressed an interest in securing the teenager's signature in the past week.

Despite making 17 appearances for United last season Wilson has played only 18 minutes of first-team football since February, although he did come off the bench to score the winner for England Under-21s against USA Under-23s on Thursday.
