Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur 'battling for Nicolo Zaniolo'

Roma playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo reportedly remains a potential transfer target for Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

While the 20-year-old is highly regarded at Stadio Olimpico, a serious knee injury has halted his development in the senior ranks.

However, according to Leggo, United and Spurs are still contemplating a bid for the Italy international.

Before his injury, Zaniolo had contributed six goals and three assists from 24 outings in Serie A and the Europa League this season.

One potential stumbling block could be his asking price, said to be as high as £53m despite the implications of the coronavirus pandemic.

Nevertheless, the report adds that Roma have little interest in a sale unless they are able to recoup a big-money fee for their most prized asset.
