Manchester United left-back Alex Telles is reportedly closing in on a season-long loan move to La Liga outfit Sevilla.

Manchester United left-back Alex Telles is reportedly closing in on a loan move to La Liga outfit Sevilla.

The 29-year-old featured regularly under Ralf Rangnick last season, contributing to five goals in 26 appearances across all competitions.

However, the Brazilian's game time at Old Trafford is now thought to be under threat following the arrival of Tyrell Malacia as well as the return to fitness of Luke Shaw.

Telles has previously been linked with a return to former club Porto, where he left to join Man United for around £15m in the summer of 2020.

However, TNT Sports claims that Sevilla are close to reaching an agreement with the Red Devils to take the left-back on a season-long loan deal.

The report adds that minor details regarding the terms of the loan are still to be finalised before Telles can undergo his medical.

Even though Telles was part of Erik ten Hag's squad on their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, the Dutch boss is prepared to let the defender leave as he looks to thin out his squad ahead of the new campaign.

With Ten Hag keen to see new recruit Malacia in action at left-back, Telles was surprisingly used as a centre-back and centre-midfielder during pre-season.

Telles is, however, expected to operate in his natural left-back role should he join Julen Lopetegui's Sevilla side this term.

Sevilla have seemingly identified Telles as a replacement for Swedish left-back Ludwig Augustinsson, who was allowed to join Aston Villa on loan earlier in the window.

Telles, who still has the years remaining on his Man United contract, will complete with Marcos Acuna for starting role under Lopetegui should he complete his temporary switch to Sevilla.

Elsewhere at Old Trafford, star forward Cristiano Ronaldo is allegedly hoping to leave the Red Devils by end of the week.

The 37-year-old, who played the first half of United's 1-1 friendly draw with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, is keen to join a club competing in the Champions League and his agent Jorge Mendes is understood to have held talks with potential suitors for his client.

The futures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Ethan Laird and Eric Bailly are also believed to be uncertain, with the latter attracting interest from Sevilla, Fulham and Napoli.
