Man United 'view Nunez, Neves as cheaper alternatives to Kane, Rice'

Manchester United could reportedly move for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and West Ham United's Declan Rice ahead of the summer market, but the pair could potentially cost in excess of £250m.

According to The Mirror, Man United view Nunez and Neves as alternative options to the English duo and could move for them at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Benfica forward has been in impressive form during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 33 times and registering four assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.

Neves, meanwhile, has scored four times and registered two assists in 31 outings for Wolves this term, but he has recently been on the sidelines through injury.

Man United have now confirmed the arrival of Ajax's Erik ten Hag as their new head coach, and the Dutchman could allegedly have as much as £200m to spend on new players this summer.

The 20-time English champions are still in the race for a top-four spot despite their poor form and are next in action away to Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
