Manchester City 'will not rival Manchester United for Gareth Bale'

A report claims that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has no intention of making a bid for Gareth Bale, potentially opening the door for Manchester United to pounce.

Manchester United have reportedly been given a clear path to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid as rivals Manchester City are out of the running.

The Wales international indicated after his match-winning double in the Champions League final win over Liverpool that he is unhappy at the Bernabeu.

Bale has been linked with Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Man City, but Jose Mourinho's Man United have previously retained the most interest in the ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace.

According to The Guardian, Pep Guardiola is not interested in signing the 28-year-old, however, leaving the Red Devils as the only serious option if he opts to return home to Britain this summer.

Saturday's famous double in Kiev earned Bale a fourth Champions League winners' medal, adding to his extensive list of major honours during five seasons in the Spanish capital.
