Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that new recruit Fred will "complement" his existing midfielders.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his delight following the arrival of Brazilian international Fred at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils head coach said that the £50m summer recruit will "complement" the club's existing midfielders when he lines up alongside them.

"Fred will complement our other midfielders' qualities, which we need; his creative brain and passing vision will give us another dimension to our game," Mourinho told the club's official website.

"I am very happy he is joining our club and I believe our players know how important he can be in our team."

Fred, who is currently on international duty at the World Cup with Brazil, joined United from Shakhtar Donetsk.
