Manchester United target Mats Hummels admits he wants to play abroad

Hummels drops transfer hint

Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels has admitted that he has a desire to move abroad, amid speculation that Manchester United are keen to seal his signature.

The German international has been heavily linked to the Premier League giants for some time, but has so far remained loyal to the Bundesliga club.

With reports that United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to launch a bid for Hummels in the summer, the defender has done little to tone down the rumours.

"Basically, I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well being," Hummels told Kicker. "Eventually, I'd like to leave the Bundesliga.

"I'm being open about this because I'm not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club."

Hummels joined Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2009.
