German clubs eye Manchester United, Liverpool target?

Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund have reportedly emerged as rivals to Manchester United for the signature of Swiss starlet Granit Xhaka.

The Basel midfielder, who has also been scouted by Liverpool, has been strongly linked with a move away from Switzerland and is rated as one of Europe's brightest young talents.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson looks set for a bidding war for the 19-year-old, according to Swiss newspaper Blick.

It is believed that Xhaka, whose contract runs out in 2013, could cost the Red Devils as much as £10m.
