Norwich City are close to winning the race to sign Manchester United's Brandon Williams on loan, according to a report.

Manchester United defender Brandon Williams is reportedly in advanced talks over a loan move to Norwich City.

The versatile 20-year-old struggled to get a look-in under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the 2020-21 season, featuring just 14 times in all competitions, four of which came in the Premier League.

As a result, the Red Devils are expected to sanction a temporary exit for Williams this summer, with Southampton, Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle United all tipped to move for the defender.

However, Sky Sports News claims that Norwich are at the head of the queue for Willams's signature, although a transfer is unlikely to go through this week.

The report adds that Solskjaer is happy to let Williams leave on loan despite Alex Telles's ankle injury, while on the other side of defence, Diogo Dalot is set to provide backup and competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Williams has scored one goal and set up three more in 50 games for United, where he is under contract until 2024 with the option of a further year.
