Gareth Bale is reportedly likely to remain at Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane announced that he was stepping down from his position at the Bernabeu.

Zinedine Zidane's exit from Real Madrid has reportedly dealt a blow to Manchester United's plans to sign Gareth Bale.

After scoring twice in the Champions League final, Bale immediately expressed his disappointment at beginning the occasion on the substitutes' bench and suggested that he was open to an exit from the Bernabeu.

However, on Thursday, Zinedine Zidane announced that he was stepping down from his role with the Spanish giants and according to The Mirror, it has improved the chances of Bale remaining at his current club.

United have been frequently linked with a big-money move for the Welsh star, with it being suggested that Jose Mourinho was prepared to pay upward of £122m to secure the forward's signature.

As it stands, however, Bale is expected to continue his spell with the European champions, who are being linked with Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino and Arsene Wenger.
