Mark Hughes says that it is "fated" for Queens Park Rangers to beat Manchester City next Sunday.

Mark Hughes believes that it is "fated" for Queens Park Rangers to beat Manchester City and ensure their Premier League survival.

The Welshman takes his team to the Etihad Stadium next Sunday knowing that a point may be good enough to beat the drop.

Hughes, who was sacked as manager of the Citizens in 2009, has another added incentive to upset the league leaders.

Victory for The R's may open the door for his former club Manchester United to snatch the Premier League crown.

"It would be just fantastic to go there and get something," The Sun quotes Hughes as saying. "They are going for the title and we're trying to stay in the league.

"When I took over at QPR, I looked at the fixtures and that one lurked ominously in the distant future.

"It does feel a little bit fated for them and for us."

QPR beat Stoke 1-0 at Loftus Road yesterday afternoon.
