Ashley Young still waiting for Roy Hodgson call

Man United winger Ashley Young admits that he was disappointed not to make England's latest squad but remains hopeful over future inclusions.

In-form Manchester United winger Ashley Young has revealed that he has not yet heard from England boss Roy Hodgson over an international recall.

The 29-year-old has looked back at his best under manager Louis van Gaal this season, with the Dutchman keen to reward him with a contract extension.

His resurgent form has led to suggestions that a Three Lions recall is on the cards, though Hodgson omitted him from recent clashes with Lithuania and Italy.

"There was no conversation," he told BT Sport. "Obviously I will always want to represent my country.

"I was a little bit disappointed not to be in the squad, but I have just got to make sure I am playing well here at United and hopefully I will get the call at some time soon."

Young's last England cap came in a World Cup qualifier against Ukraine back in 2013.
