Danny Welbeck leaves Etihad Stadium in protective boot

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck reportedly suffered an ankle injury in the club's 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Monday.

It is understood that the 21-year-old left the Etihad Stadium with his injured ankle in a protective plastic boot, but the extent of the damage is not yet clear.

Welbeck was introduced to proceedings in the 58th minute, and was involved in an ugly challenge with City midfielder Nigel De Jong late in the match.

The result dropped United to second in the Premier League table.
