Yaya Toure says that Manchester City will dominate once Sir Alex Ferguson retires from Manchester United in the summer.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is adamant that his side will become the dominant force in English football once Sir Alex Ferguson retires this summer.

The Scot announced on Wednesday that he will call it a day on his 26-year reign at Old Trafford at the end of the season, with Everton boss David Moyes preparing to take over the role at the Premier League champions.

However, Toure believes that the end of Ferguson's tenure at the Red Devils could spell the end of United's dominance.

Asked if there could be a shift in power with Ferguson on his way out, Toure told talkSPORT: "Yes, because Man City have a great project for the future and, after this movement now, I think City will be dominant in the future.

"The most important thing for us is to try to be the top club in Manchester. Before it was United, but now I hope it will be City."

Ferguson will bow out on a high having already secured his 13th Premier League title at the club this year.
