Chris Smalling trains for Manchester United and is in line to start in the Manchester derby.

Chris Smalling is in line to return to the first team ahead of today's FA Cup clash against rivals Manchester City.

The England defender has been out of action for Manchester United through tonsillitis.

It was feared that Smalling would be out for at least 3 months with glandular fever, however that was quickly dismissed by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Though it was expected that Smalling would be back next week, it has been reported that he trained yesterday and could even start at the Etihad Stadium.

Smalling joined Manchester United from Fulham in 2010 for around £10m.
