Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is reportedly keen to return to the club in a coaching capacity.
The 41-year-old has been openly critical of manager Louis van Gaal and the team's performances this season.
The club suffered their 11th defeat of the season in Thursday's 2-1 loss to FC Midtjylland in the first leg of their last-32 Europa League tie in Denmark.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Scholes is keen to help turn United's season around, but will not approach the club about a role in the backroom staff.
The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League table, six points adrift of fourth spot.
