Robin van Persie has 'top four' clause in Manchester United contract?

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie reportedly has a way out of Manchester United should the club fail to reach the top four this season.

Manchester United could reportedly lose striker Robin van Persie in the summer due to a 'top four' clause included in his contract at Old Trafford.

Questions have been raised over the Dutchman's future, with some reports claiming that the 30-year-old is unhappy at the club, who have struggled during David Moyes's first season in charge.

According to The Express, a clause within Van Persie's contract is believed to state that if United finish the season outside of the Champions League spots, the striker can speak to other clubs.

However, any move would have to be sanctioned by the club in order for Van Persie to permanently leave the North-West outfit.

The Netherlands international, who moved to United from Arsenal back in 2012, is said to have attracted interest from Italian outfit Juventus and French side Monaco.

United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, nine points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.
