Marcus Rashford argues with Manchester United fan before Newcastle United clash

Rashford argues with Man Utd fan before Newcastle clash

Marcus Rashford was involved in a heated exchange with a Manchester United supporter before Wednesday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

The England international was back in the squad for the game with Eddie Howe's side, having recovered from the injury problem which had seen him miss four league fixtures in a row.

However, there was an unpleasant exchange between Rashford and a Red Devils fan while the players were warming-up for the contest with the Magpies.

In clips circulating on social media, Rashford can be seen being led away from the warm-up area by Christian Eriksen and Antony, with the 26-year-old taking exception to something which had been shouted at him from the crowd.

It is unclear what was said to the Red Devils academy product, but he was visibility angry before removing himself from the situation.

Rashford has found it difficult this season

Rashford was introduced for the final seven minutes of his side's 3-2 win over Newcastle, with the Englishman playing in the league for the first time since the draw with Bournemouth on April 13.

The Englishman has found it difficult to make his mark for Erik ten Hag's side this season, only managing eight goals and five assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.

Rashford has just seven Premier League goals to his name, while he failed to find the back of the net in the group stage of this season's Champions League.

The forward netted 30 times in all competitions last season, including 17 in the Premier League, but he faces a battle to break the 10-goal mark this term.

Rashford is set to be available to start Sunday's game against Brighton & Hove Albion, and he will also be in Ten Hag's thoughts to be in the XI for the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Rashford is expected to stay at Man United this summer

There has recently been a host of speculation surrounding Rashford's future, with the club believed to be willing to listen to offers for the forward.

Paris Saint-Germain had allegedly been considering a move for the Englishman this summer, with the capital giants facing the difficult task of replacing Kylian Mbappe.

However, it is understood that PSG do not currently view Rashford as a target, and with Man United not thought to be willing to sell him for under £70m, it is difficult to see him leaving this summer.

Rashford is also believed to be determined to put a tough season behind him and prove himself again during the 2024-25 campaign.

Man United's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney, though, has questioned whether it might be the right time for Rashford to leave due to his struggles both on and off the field.
