United are six points off the top four.

Paul Pogba has urged Manchester United to prove they have the characteristics of a big team by continuing their perfect record under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United have won all six matches since the Norwegian replaced Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, including a 1-0 victory against Tottenham at Wembley last weekend.

Pogba believes the next step on United's mission to return to the top of the English game is to prove they can sustain the form they have showed.

"It's not easy but that makes a big team, when they carry on at the top level and keep winning for a long time. That's what we want," Pogba told Sky Sports.

"We are proud to be here, we want to come back to the top and now we get good results.

"We have a new manager, we want to do good, he wants to do good. Now the big challenge is to stay like this on this way. That's where top teams carry on like this.

"When we win obviously it's always good, we always hear good things. We are Manchester United so when we lose it's normal we get criticised. That's our job, that's what we do."

The form that United have shown under Solskjaer has reignited hopes that they could achieve a top-four finish and also compete to win a trophy.

United face a trip to Arsenal in the FA Cup before taking on Paris St Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League next month.

Pogba admits silverware has to be the aim, saying: "(Winning trophies) is the objective, we are Manchester United, that's where we want to be, that's where we should be.

"Let's go day by day and match by match, we don't want to think too far. Let's focus on the game that is coming up. The future is coming up, the past has gone, let's think present."

Pogba's form has improved notably since Solskjaer took over at United, with the France midfielder contributing four goals and as many assists in five outings.

He was heavily criticised for his performances under Mourinho, but appears to now be showing his full potential.

The 25-year-old insists that the team is the main focus and any success he enjoys will only come if his side keeps winning.

"It's always good to hear good things about me but I couldn't perform without the team so it's not only me it is the team," he added.

"I wouldn't say only myself, yeah I scored a few goals and a few assists but it is like all the team.

"Individual statistic comes with the win, with the team. It is not by yourself. I always say if you can play very good and do assists, scoring goals and the team lose, you will not see you. But when you win you will shine more than if you lose.

"It is winning, when you win titles, win things obviously you can get higher but when you lose, no they don't see you."
