Marcus Rashford wins Premier League Player of the Month

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

The 24-year-old, whose place in the Manchester United team had been questioned following an underwhelming 2021-22 campaign, bounced back this month to help Erik ten Hag's side win both of their September top-flight outings.

The death of Queen Elizabeth II led to a depleted Premier League schedule this month, but Rashford still managed to register two goals and two assists in his two appearances.

The England international, who was ruled out of the recent international break due to injury, created Jadon Sancho's winning goal against Leicester City at the beginning of the month, before scoring twice and registering another assist in the victory over Arsenal.

Those contributions were enough for Rashford to be named player of the month for the first time since January 2019.

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne, Tottenham Hotspur's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing, Everton attacker Alex Iwobi and Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey were the other players nominated for the award.

Rashford remains a major injury doubt for Sunday's Manchester derby against Manchester City.
